Little Update BIG NEWS!

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting in a while, work is crazy and I have only been racing a couple of times since the national. Looking forward to this weekends event at Teeside!

Big news for GT10 users in the UK:

Autosport World GT Cup 2013
12th/13th January 2013

Invitational Reedy Race - GT10
Demonstration/Public Participation Fleet - GT12's
Demonstration Fleet - Probably F1's

After some stunning negotiation from Jim Spencer with someone senior at Haymarket (they run the Autosport Show), the BRCA have been asked to run a proper race meeting at the Autosport Show in 2013.

We'll be provided with 900 sq.m of floor space for the Saturday and Sunday. For those who are wondering how much that is, think 1.5 times the size of Chesterfield's sports hall. Into this area we will be fitting a carpet track, pit area and trade stands. This will all be constructed after the show finishes on the Friday, which will be familiar territory for anyone who's been involved with Autosport demos in the past.

The format for the meeting and the cars raced are dictated by Haymarket and fit in with their marketing strategy. The BIG (MASSIVE in fact!) win for us, and the rest of the trade who've got their head screwed on, is the Haymarket publicity machine are going to flog this to death together with the publicity machine of the full sized GT championships too (right down to the teams sponsors running competitions. So the winners get a VIP trip to the show and have a go of 'Their Car' (GT12 with a bodyshell on it) etc - the possibilities are huge and it's publicity we've previously only been able to dream of.

So the question I bet you're all wnating to ask is; who gets to race?

Well that is yet to be decided, but the basics of it are that you will need to apply for a place and these will be offered based on driver ability/experience, participation in national and other race series, corporate affililiation and willingness to comply to Haymarket requirements among other things.

It is hoped that we will be able to attract some big names (drivers and manufacturers) from the trade, both UK and overseas based, but there will almost certainly be places available for many of the guys who race in the UK too. Current thinking is 48 drivers for GT10.

So what do you need to do?

First of all, save the date if you're interested. Then keep an eye out for further info on here and from other internet sources. Also, spread the word! The BRCA rumour/PR machine will be working overtime on this in the coming months, so do your bit to help make this a fantastic event for everyone.
